Setup a simple measurement:

• Define the loop with 'From:' 'To:' 'Inc:'. Attention: only posetive 'From:' < 'To:'

• Minimal delay between set the PVs and measure set the 'Delay:' field. Also subseconds are allowed e.g. 0.2 for 200ms

• Define the PV to set: 'Add PV' -> 'Pv' -> PV_NAME

• Define PVs to measure: Button <Measure>

  • Set Field 'Add PV:'. Press Button <Add PV>. If the PV exists it will be added to the List 'Measured PVs:'
  • If the PV is not accessible it will be set to red Background
  • Delete from list by select and press Button 'Delete selected PVs'

• <Start>

• Define the number of steps with 'From:' 'To:' 'Inc:'. Attention: only posetive 'From:' < 'To:'

• Define the PV or a number of PVs to be set:

  -'Add PV' -> 'Linear' -> 'LINEAR PV:' PV_NAME 'Begin:', 'End:' - Begin may be higher than 'End'

Loops for n dimensions, with the parameters:

• the parameters: 'FROM, TO, INCREMENT' and 'DELAY' define a loop. This may be used to define the set value but should be used to define the number of steps and use the 'Linear' type to define the set values.
• FROM < TO ! Decreasing values are not allowed! use 'Linear' PV instead.
• The outer loop may be defined for single or multiple runs: [ONCE|Triangle|Sawtooth]

Attatched Process variables: Each loop may set several PVs:

Set PV types: For each process variable are several types of conversion of the loop parameters available.

• PV: set the current loop value.
• MOTOR: set the current loop value FROM,TO and wait until the motor has reached its position.
• LINEAR: Parameter: BEGIN, END. Convert the loop values FROM, TO to the range within the parameters for each step.
• FUNCTION: Transform the loop values with a free definable (python syntax) function. The variable 'x' means the runing value defined by FROM, TO e.g. FROM 1 TO 10 INC 1, FUNC PV test, FUNCTION 'x**2' will set the PV test to 1,4,9,16,..81,100

Measurement: Multiple PVs may be measured in each step. The measured values are:

• displayed in a list
• may be shown in a StripTool
• may be stored in a file in .csv format
• there may be a break condition to break the measurement (-b option)

GUI Features :

• All loops, set and read PVs may be configured by the GUI.
• Configuration and measured data may be stored to file.

Run Remarks :

• The program can execute the configuration file to perform the measurement from command line.:

  stepy3 -x my.cfg -f measuredData.csv
  

• Minimal delay between the steps has to be set. It is approximate 1 second, due to the channel access library!

• Save measured data:

  • with the <Save&Clead-data> Button.
  • Press the <Start> Button: If there are unsaved data the program will prompt for Save or not.

Restore affected PVs when finishing the program.

• GUI Button: <Reset PVs>
• Quit GUI: Ask dialog if the program shall restore all set PVs to values after start of the program.
• Commandline: allways restore if program finshed.

xx.cfg Configure Measurement

• The '.cfg' file may contain multiple configurations.

• The user has to choose one of these configurations while loading the '.cfg' file.

• In commandline mode a '.cfg' file with just one configuration is executed directly, more configurations are choosen interactive or by argument.:

In GUI mode, store a configuration will append it to an existing file, asking for the description before write it. Example:
